The City of Bedias is a community that predates the Republic.
Settlers here fought at the Battle of San Jacinto and land grants were issued to area residents by the Republic of Texas. The area was originally called Plasterville (1836 Map of Texas) and later known as Bedias after a local Native American tribe. The City was incorporated in 2004. The 2010 census established the population within the City limits at 482. The City is managed by a Mayor and five Councilmen.
